Saturdays were always fabulous.
I have been waiting rather patiently for the last few months for the launch of Kate Spade's new lower priced designer line of clothing and accessories. Key words there are LOWER PRICED. With a price range of $50-$200, the designer is capable of reaching an entirely different target market.
What a smarty pants. The strategy isn't really new, we've seen it with Target and H&M's capsule collections and soon to come in Canada with Holt Renfrew's hr2. I LOVE Kate Spade, she's whimsical and loud-- and it was a Kate Spade bag I first watched my mother fawn over at Holt Renfrew in 2005--mind you the bag was for her not me.
However, I don't know how I feel about Saturday. Though I did love some of their stuff, I really feel they fell short, especially in the accessories department. Going through the website left my wanting something more, that I simply couldn't find there. And I couldn't justify spending $180 on a dress as a student, I don't even know that I can justify it as a working adult. So alas, I'm going to surmise that I am not their target market, and merrily move on.
All the same, here are some of the pieces I just adored. Shawty really is a window shopper this time around.

Refreshing Interpretations
I'm sure we are all aware of the ombré effect that has become so popular on everything from hair, to bleached out denim. Whilst researching for another post, I came across these pieces from Mathew Williamsons' Spring 2013 Ready-To-Wear collection, that took the idea of ombré combining it with bleaching and brought them together to create a most beautiful baby.
The interest you get from moving the eye across such a vast palette is very intriguing. I love how it looks like water fell on ink and the colours distributed themselves across the rest of the fabric.
From what I could find about the technique used, the designer collaborated with artist Shane McAdams who used a combination of ink, oil and resin to create the effect seen.
This is fashion.
The look for less? Found this water colour print dress for 79.99 from Mango.com.

Art I can afford.
Contrary to what this blog states, I do not spend my life on Pinterest, though it may seem so. However, today's post does come straight from the site. I follow a lot of people that have art boards and I saw this one pin about an artist on Etsy that does oil paintings that are reasonably priced.
Now I've been combing sites for art for my bedroom as I'm doing it over, and was going to settle for giclee prints of pieces I loved but wouldn't be able to afford.
These pieces I found are by an artist named Luiza Vizoli, and are absolutely breath-taking. She does modern abstract textured oil paintings, exactly what I want.
You can have a look at her Etsy store, I'll show you my favourites.

Here's to this hair.
I have always loved the pixie cut, ever since I first saw Rihanna's edgier version with the longer bangs back in 2007. But over the past few months I've seen this super short, and what I consider to be super sexy cut on numerous celebrities, and even one of my friends at school who just looks fabulous in it.
I really don't know if I would ever cut my hair this short, right now I'm growing it out to donate it--this has been a two year process so far-- so when I do give it away, I really want to do something short and drastic. My only issues are the fact that I've an oversized head, and the amount of maintenance that would go into my curly hair being this short, I am definitely not the kind of girl willing to get up early every morning to flat iron my hair.
What do yall think? Should I or should I not?
And by far my favourite pixie cut yet, my friend Azraa from school-- she's so beautiful!

Throwback Thursday!
I was perusing some blogs and came accross a fantastic image from this blog post. I kind of remember the one my parents had when i was younger, I'm pretty sure it was burgundy--and that I couldnt quite understand how to use it.
I would LOVE to find one of these old rotary dial telephones--and to have it in this exact colour for my room renovation that I've just begun. I'm not sure if it would still be functional when hooked up to a telephone line --but I'll be sure to check!

Aficionado.
Over the past few years I have slowly come to the conclusion that unfortunately heels can no longer be a part of my closet. This is probably of my own doing, from a mixture of wearing bad shoes, dance, running and now copious hours of standing on my feet between school and work. With that said, I now have a vested interest flat shoes-- everything from plain schoolgirl looking ones to fanciful, studs.
I will dutifully become your very own flats aficionado. Now, I have to introduce you to these five pairs of shoes I came across whilst doing my online window shopping. I'm sure you can see the style of sandal I'm into right now, strappy with lots of detail.
I'm not a huge fan of the overkill that has become studs, but ZARA has definitely done it right. I will most definitely be picking up either of these pairs from them.

Inspired
As of today I'll be doing a post at the beginning of the week of things I've found that have given me inspiration, or moved something in me. I've also decided to do a post at the end of the week called Gratitude, that will be of the simple things I've enjoyed or been privy to.
Here's to Inspiration.
1. Ambition is aspirational-- having a goal, hope, or desire. Intention implies assuming you can and have every right to achieve your ambition and that you care enough to make it happen.
-- Gloria Feldt, No Excuses: Nine ways women can change the way we think about power.
2. A little music for the soul--
3. Bailarinas II - Fernanda Cataldo
